Master Your Money Mindset~ 5 Keys To Financial Wholeness

If you’re a skeptic, the term “money mindset” probably makes you grind your teeth, but your attitudes toward money are more than mere woo-woo. Like a sculptors’ chisel, they can carve away limiting beliefs and behaviors to expose the beautiful life hidden deep in the marble.

It can be tough to follow through on positive change, and if you can’t see the finished sculpture in every chunk of marble, you will never bother to pick up a chisel. Pessimism is powerful—so powerful that a recent BMC study found it to be the fastest way to hinder a lifestyle change.

There’s more to money mindset than mere optimism, and as a woman, it’s important to develop more confidence in how you handle your finances.

To attract money and achieve unlimited abundance in your life consider these keys to achieve financial freedom:

-1) Stop Punishing Yourself for Your Money Mistakes

Mistakes are a natural part of being alive, so if you have piled up credit card debt or splurged on too many expensive vacations that you couldn’t afford, welcome to the human race.

If you allow shame to trap you in the past you will find yourself gradually building your identity out of your mistakes.

Financial freedom demands a healthy measure of self-worth, so when you make mistakes, consider them as feedback, learn from them, put them behind you, and please, please don’t drown in them.

-2) Become Best Friends with Your Money Mindset

You can’t jump a hurdle you cannot see, and the same applies to money--you need to see your existing attitudes clearly if you're going to leap over them.

Try this:

·         For one week document what you are thinking when you make a financial decision during the course of each day.

·         At the end of the week look for patterns to reveal awareness of your money thoughts.

For example, if you bought three dresses simply because they were on sale, ask yourself were these purchases made because you needed them or for some other reason.

When you do this type of self-analysis you will be able to identify the beliefs and behaviors to eliminate, and it will give you more clarity to reshape your money mindset.

The better you know yourself, the easier it will be to reach your goals. Approach your money attitudes like an anthropologist, studying your everyday behaviors until you have a comprehensive understanding of what you need to change.

-3) Stop Looking for Superiority in Others

Steven Furtick said, “The reason we struggle with insecurity is that we compare our behind the scenes with everyone else’s highlight reel.”

Somewhere out there in the world is another woman who’s comparing your highlight reel to her behind-the-scenes footage. Everyone looks superior on the surface, so comparisons are a fast track to feelings of inferiority. Lisa Nichols has been quoted as saying “comparison is the stealer of joy”.

It’s far more productive to build a values-driven life and compare yourself to your own standards and objectives. Set achievable goals based on those values and celebrate your small successes.

They will carry your optimism to new heights.

-4) Attract Money through Osmosis

It takes ten thousand hours to become good at something. That’s six to ten years of practice. That’s a high bar for many and the reason why so few people enter adulthood with financial skills.

They must be learned one success at a time and one failure at a time, but it doesn’t need to be a lonely pursuit.

It’s far easier to build your money talents if you surround yourself with people who have a strong positive money mindset are living by their values and who have achieved grand goals.

There is the saying “you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”.

So become conscious of the people you spend time with and the content you consume. Online financial courses, reading the finance section of local and national news publications, and women-only workshops and seminars are cheap and effective ways to build your skills and gain confidence.

These small shifts can markedly transform your perspective that may be holding you back from becoming the money magnet you desire to be.

Change the people you surround yourself with and change your life.

-5) Say Bye-bye To the Negativity

Negative speech attracts negative behavior, but complaining is a decidedly human pursuit. It’s easy to bond over money woes and high prices, but there is a thin line between complaints and excuses.

A proactive, positive money mindset will go a long way towards building your best financial self.

When negativity is pushing at the edge of your brain, think of solutions and express those instead. Affirmations can also be a powerful tool to help you change your mood, state of mind, and manifest the change you desire in your life.

These simple habits can have a dramatic effect on your approach to life. Do it often, do it enough, and proactivity will soon become a habit that will keep you on the path to financial wholeness.

Few people develop healthy relationships with money as they grow up. Some of us are taught to resent it for its scarcity and don’t expect it to kick problems in our faces at every turn.

Money doesn’t need to be the bully in your life. Turn it into a tool instead, and you will be able to wield it to sculpt the life you have always wanted.

A positive money mindset is one of the most powerful money magnets at your disposal.
